event
description
In this half-day event we gather to share works-in-progress, workshops, and performances around the topic of memory. It is the second collaboration between four groups: Wonderung, School of Humans, School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe and Make-Believe Studio. Typically this has been a closed event within our own established communities, friends, and friends of friends and this is the first time we are opening it up to a larger public. This is the vibe anyway. Feel invited to join us!
Random Access Memory brings together reflections from each collective on memory, technology, and security culture through various experimental mediums. The works shown are in unfinished and raw states and therefore asks for active engagement from attendees as well as commitment to being present for as much of the programme as possible.
On the programme:
- Workshop on cybersecurity
- Workshop on accessibility protocols in organising
- Live music performances
- Visual arts exhibition
- Interactive installations from members of Make-believe Studio
- Activation ritual/workshop from School of Humans
about collaborators
Wonderung has been organising gatherings with friends for over 2 years, as an opportunity to share and get feedback on in-progress experiments outside of formal institutional spaces.
School of Humans is a porous research collective and experimentation space dedicated to asking questions about connection and communication towards a deeper understanding of the human experience.
School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe is an artist-led non-profit. We teach experimental programs spanning art, technology, design, human connection and new media, with themes responding to the current state of the world since 2014.
Make-believe Studio is the art tech community and studio event member space which is an extension of the school.
food and logistics
Food
We will have a traditional dinner together, potluck style. Please bring a dish. We equally love super simple and extremely elaborate things, do what feels right. Whatever you make, write down all the ingredients you use to help others navigate their allergies and other idiosyncrasies with respect to nutrition.
Health
If you are sick, please don’t come. If you are unsure, please don’t come either. Additionally, if your life and work allows this, try to reduce the time spent in big groups indoors this week, and when you have to (e.g. public transport), consider wearing an FFP2 mask. We want to start taking infections safety more seriously to be mindful and supportive of folks with vulnerable health conditions.
Volunteers
We will need a few volunteers on site to take 1.5-2 hours shifts. These will include general oversight of the space and onboarding of newcomers. We’ll talk about it during the opening, but if you already feel called – let us know, we’d be extremely grateful < 3
Fund-raising
Bring cash. We will ask everyone to contribute between 5 and 25 EUR to provide aid to Palestinian and Ukrainian initiatives.
