What makes a creative art tech community truly meaningful to its members?
description
Recently we’ve come across the opportunity to expand our physical location to a beautiful space on the top floor of the ACUD Kunsthaus, a historic 19th century building that’s one of the few remaining independent art houses predating the fall of the Berlin Wall; the same building where the School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe has been housed since 2015.
To make it happen, we are starting a membership program for the School that would allow people living in or visiting Berlin to access to our spaces.
Our vision: an international group of artists, designers, technologists, scientists, researchers, activists, and the like, who care deeply about community, and co-creating a diverse, safe and sane space in the heart of Berlin for creative inquiry, shared learning, mutual support, artistic research, and playful experimentation. At the core of our efforts is a question: what makes a creative art tech community truly meaningful to its members, and how might we build a model that helps us care for one another through the absurdities of our time?
Wanna join us?

Full-time Members (10 spots): 350 euros a month gets you

We have a lot of other stuff in the works that we would like to offer as the community unfolds, including matchmaking creatives, specific community events (e.g., book club, food club, movie club), a library of artist talks, and mentoring opportunities.
As you can see, this is not just about having desk space, but continuing to build and grow our community in a way where as many people as possible can contribute their voice in shaping things.
Share this page with any like-minded people in Berlin for current openings. Here's a link to the floor plan and photos of the space. Women and persons from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and other under-represented communities in the tech and arts fields highly encouraged to join us!
We’re happy to answer any questions in the meantime. Thanks for your support! <3
