description

Dear creative humans, we must come together. Right. Now.

The world we are living in is stupid. You and I could run the world better than most of these fools in office right now. The scary future timeline is here. Everyone is looking for jobs, stability, recognition, to be supported and seen, love. The reality is that there are no magic fairies coming down to save us all. So let’s come together and save each other. You in?

We are inviting thoughtful, creative humans (like you!) in Berlin and beyond to come together for the next three months both on- and off- line to learn and create together. Come explore art, tech, design, political inquiry and human connection on zoom, or in our makerspace, and studio on the top floor of the historic ACUD Kunsthaus, the last surviving independent art and culture space from the 1990 reunification era in Berlin-Mitte.

This is the program we’ve been dreaming of for years! We’re opening our doors and inviting creative emerging artists and humans with innovative and intelligent minds to come explore new topics, develop and expand your practice, and learn and teach things you’ve only dreamed of learning and teaching, as you wrestle out the courage to begin something new.

We’ll support you in these endeavors while encouraging introspection, curiosity, hands-on exploration, and the enthusiasm and confidence to say something with your work. No prior tech experience necessary.

This is an open-ended program, more of an indoor winter camp for adults and adult children (lol) interested in creative transformation than a class. Some afternoons there'll be a handful of people quietly (or not so quietly) working on projects; on potluck nights and some eves, the space may be fully alive. Come as often as you can!

what we provide

In Berlin

  • Our studio and makerspace located at ACUD in Berlin, Mitte, will be open on weekdays from 13:00 to 20:00 and on weekends from 10:00 to 20:00. On special event nights, we'll stay open until 23:00 (all times are Berlin time)

  • Opportunities to run a talk, workshop or mini-class on something you know

  • Weekly community potlucks

  • Classrooms you can reserve for knowledge exchange

  • Onsite materials and tools: 3D printers, electronics, hand tools, a sewing machine, cameras, recorders and more

  • Mentorship and support

Online

  • The ability to schedule talks, workshops and other events on Zoom

  • An online forum for exchanging ideas, sharing knowledge, and group discussions

  • A mentor, assigned once the program begins, available for one-on-one check-ins if you feel stuck

  • If you're able to come to Berlin at some point during the three months, you can join in person at no extra cost

For everyone

  • Opportunities to exhibit your work IRL (see details below)

  • Weekly prompts to inspire your creative output and lead you towards self-reflection and discovery, plus regular interactions with others doing the same

  • Guest speakers on topics relating to art, technology, and society, with questions, interaction and discussion following, open to everyone in the program

  • A dedicated online forum to share work and connect with the whole group

This program is designed to give anyone interested, the experience of teaching and presenting, whether you are participating in Berlin or online. If you'd love to teach (at a university, in a workshop, anywhere), come gain experience for your CV, and, more importantly, develop new ideas and gain feedback and guidance from a supportive group.

We hope for as much overlap as possible between our in Berlin and online cohorts. People working in the space are encouraged to record or document what they do for the people online, and online participants can lead Zoom sessions that people in the space can join. Figuring out the best ways to share between the room and the screen is part of what we'll all learn together, and documenting your work is a skill many jobs ask for these days.‍ ‍Join us!

here you can

  • make friends and future collaborators

  • work on your own project, or start one with others

  • join workshops given by other members

  • get feedback and support when you're stuck

  • reflect on your practice with weekly creative prompts

  • contribute to the community, either by putting activities on the schedule or by joining in and being a supportive participant

  • bring a positive creative energy

  • share what you make, and help document what happens so others can take part

  • come as often as you can. There's no minimum, but the more you give, the more you'll get.

  • take care of each other and of the space

artist showcase

During this three-month program, participants will have the opportunity to showcase work in two key moments:

  • 6. December: A visual showcase at StudioDB, as part of our collaboration with Berlin School of Sound

  • January 2027: An open house exhibition in our Make-Believe Studio during transmediale Vorspiel (end of month, date tbd)

who is this
class for?

This program is open to anyone interested in:

  • Learning

  • Teaching

  • Getting hands-on with new tools

  • Communal activities around food

  • New friends

  • Contributing to the community

  • Bringing a positive creative energy

No experience in tech required. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.

We especially want to raise the voices of people underrepresented in art and tech: women; Black, Indigenous and people of color; lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer people; and people from other under-represented groups encouraged to join.

We believe there is power in life-long learning, creativity, and connectedness to others. With this program, we're looking for those of you who feel the same, and who, like us, want to contribute to making a sustained difference in your own life and in the lives of others.
